group meetings reflection
As we continue on with our planning for the group exhibition, i would like to reflect on some challenges that i have faced during the curatorial process.
1. As a group it is tougher to make decisions
Although one positive point of having a group is the ability to share the workload and to have a variety of opinions that we can build on and work on together, it is difficult to agree fully on a single direction that we should take as a group given that we do have many competing thoughts. As such, it is often necessary to rationalise each decision that we choose to make in order to gain the approval of other group members. An example of this would be that if i am planning the visual composition of the space, i can only gain the approval of what i have chosen if i would have to back it up with concrete points on how it links back to the concept itself rather than simply pursuing it without reason. Ultimately i do think that this is helpful, but it does take a while to progress) This also likely due to how everyone approaches the module content differently and as such although we have all learned the same content, we definitely take away different things depending on how we have interacted and processed the information.
2. It's hard to be creative
In my opinion, creativity stems from many different sources and often creativity spurs further creativity. However under pressure creativity seems to be stunted and creativity may even be limited in group settings due to certain constraints of having to not only match up to your own standards but the standards of other group members as well.
