class concept pitches

I actually really enjoyed each presentation that the different groups in class gave on their exhibition concepts and really what struck me most was that each group seemed to lean a lot as well on their own experiences with digital art and culture, exploring key concepts that were quite relatable such as often incorporating social media into their exhibit (the 12pm exhibition) as well as drawing from their own lives to link it to digital culture (religion exhibition) in curating their exhibitions. For the group that drew inspiration from @lilmequila to create their own online instagram exhibition as well, i thought this was well done in making use of their own prior experiences as one of the members had actually been a follower of lil mequila in her own life as part of her own instagram social experience. Thus this made me think of how i could possibly also lean on my own personal experiences and incorporate them to my group's exhibition.

Just as i had been the audience to these concept pitches, this also prompted me to think about how our group had to consider audience expectations and experience as well in our curatorial process. In line with Muller (2012) on the importance of audience experience in curating to push art further towards more experimentation and prototyping, i realised that we could afford to be a lot more creative and experimental in our own approach to our exhibition and to not simply be constrained to traditional creational methods and kinds of exhibitions that we typically expect, but to experiment more.
